Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist

Band 6

Job overview

Are you ready for a new challenge?  Are you ambitious but a little bit stuck with no career progression?  Would you like the opportunity to learn a completely new skillset?  Are you tempted by a tertiary centre but need the flexibility of being closer to home?  We might have the job for you!

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Paediatric Physiotherapy Team continues to grow at a rapid rate with some exciting developments.  We are currently recruiting a Band 6 Full Time Paediatric Physiotherapist.  This is a rotational role, and will involve rotations into acute inpatients, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal outpatients; fantastically developing your skillset.  There is a strong emphasis on upskilling-both clinically and non-clinically with excellent opportunities for learning on the job and more formally.

Main duties of the job

MTW has many specialist services.  We have an established Cystic Fibrosis multidisciplinary service, with strong links with Kings College Hospital.  We are a regional hub for paediatric orthopaedics, with five paediatric orthopaedic surgeons who are performing complex surgeries on complex children.    In addition, we have a wealth of paediatricians with multiple specialities.  Our physiotherapy service that goes alongside these ensures that no two days at work are ever the same.

Yes, there is some weekend and on call work …But this doesn’t have to be a downside!  You will be fully supported by the physiotherapy and medical teams, and by the time you are on call you will feel confident and be competent.

Not done much paediatrics but have a passion for this area?  We can help you to develop your paediatric physiotherapy skills, so past experience is not essential, and there are career development opportunities along the way.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please give us a call to explore the opportunities we can offer.

Jennie Quilter and Lorraine Bomphrey (01892 635819 or 01892 634499).

Working for our organisation

MTW is a large acute hospital trust in the south-east of England.
We provide a full range of general hospital services and some aspects of specialist and complex care to around 600,000 people living in west Kent and East Sussex. We have a team of over 8,000 full and part-time staff. We also provide specialist cancer services to around 2 million people across Kent and East Sussex via the Kent Oncology Centre.

In the 2024 NHS staff survey, our employees ranked MTW among the top 10 NHS Trusts nationwide and the second-best Trust to work for in the South East.

Would you like to work flexibly?  In the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us, for our patients and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
