Band 2

Job overview

The Oncology Pharmacy Team benefits from a high profile within the Kent Oncology Centre and the Kent & Medway Cancer Collaborative. We are always striving to improve in order to meet the demands and challenges of an evolving service.

Our Aseptic Service Facilities are at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury (TWH) and is allowing us to maximise our capacity to deliver optimal care to all our patients.

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly motivated and resourceful person with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our proactive aseptic team.

Within this role you will be working closely with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants to provide Aseptic services to Oncology patients, including clinical trials.

Main duties of the job

This role includes:

•        Assist in the management of the delivery of products across the trust sites ensuring appropriate storage conditions are maintained.

•        The maintenance of the aseptic unit including extensive cleaning on a sessional, daily and weekly basis. This is an integral part of ensuring the highly specialised unit meets GMP standards.

•        Stock control of consumables and drugs used for the aseptic process.

The work will be varied and challenging, working to tight schedules to achieve targets and deadlines. You must have good manual dexterity and work accurately. The aseptic Department is an enclosed environment and has no patient contact.

No previous experience is necessary, as you will undertake a minimum of 6-12 months specialist training to develop the skills required.

As a pharmacy assistant you need to work towards an approved Qualification relevant to the job role, such as Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Services Skills and you should hold the required qualification and grades in Maths and English as set out in the job description.

If you are interested in applying for this post then an informal visit to the Aseptic Department is highly recommended to give you a clear understanding of what this role entails.
