Maternity Smokefree Advisor

NHS AfC: Band 4

Trosolwg o'r swydd

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Maternity Smokefree Advisor.

The post holder will support pregnant smokers and family members to quit smoking through weekly appointments. This will include helping them to manage cravings and offering Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to aid their quit journeys. All training to become a level 2 trained Smokefree Advisor will be provided, unless already trained. Experience in Maternity Services and/or Public Health is desirable so that the post holder can effectively signpost to other support available.

We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with women and their families in a supportive role, someone who is positive about life and holds a passion for helping others to help themselves.  The post holder will  help women to  make a difference in their pregnancies and the lives of their families. The post holder should recognize that some families can have complex and multifactorial issues often requiring support from other services and agencies.  Good communication skills are essential for this role.

The post holder will have their own caseload of pregnant people to support over a two to three month period and will manage the caseload with minimal support from the Smoking in Pregnancy Midwife. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country.
