Job overview

This is a substantive post  in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. All subspecialties will be considered but an interest in rapid access clinic and colposcopy would be an advantage. This is a replacement post for a retired colleague at QEQM.

The post-holder will need to demonstrate competence in core Obstetrics and Gynaecology to enable he/she to fulfil the role of a general obstetrician and gynaecologist. The consultant will be expected to participate in Intrapartum and elective obstetrics to ensure provision of the hours of consultant presence as required by the RCOG.

There will be a regular on call session (1 in 15) . There will be regular theatre and sessions. Your job plan will contain 10 Programmed Activities per week consisting of 8 direct clinical care PA’s and 2 supporting professional activity PA’s. The precise length of Programmed Activities may vary from week to week around the average assessment set out in the Job Plan.

Main duties of the job

Will be part of a 16 strong consultant team delivering on calls with a frequency of 1 in 1.

Working as part of the rapid access team with close working relationship with our gynae-oncology specialists

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
  • MRCOG part 2/3
  • Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or graduate of a UK Medical School

Experience

Essential criteria
  • CCT or equivalent in obstetrics and gynaecology
  • ATSM advanced labour ward practice
  • Proven track record in high risk obstetrics and high risk caesarean sections
Desirable criteria
  • Colposcopy accreditation
  • ATSM in benign gynaecology or gynaecology

Other

Essential criteria
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to travel effectively between sites
