There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Biomedical Scientist, Band 6 or Band 6 Annex 21 (dependent on relevant qualifications) to join our friendly Clinical Biochemistry team.
We are looking for exceptional, suitably experienced, highly motivated HCPC registered BMS, who have completed the IBMS specialist portfolio in Biochemistry or in the process of completing?
About the department: We are ISO 15189 accredited department with quality at the heart of our service. We prided ourselves in providing a quality driven patient focus service. We do this by investing in our staff and technology.
Clinical Biochemistry is based on two sites providing a 24/7* continuous service and offers a broad range of experiences via internal rotation. The laboratory is well equipped with Roche 8000 and Cobas Pros (Chemistry and Immunoassay), Sebia (capillary and hydras electrophoresis), Osmometers, Biosystems BA200 (turbidimetric), Menarini (HPLC) and OC sensor Pledia (qFIT) analysers.

On attaining appropriate competencies, the successful applicant will be expected to fully participate in the out of hours rota which will include some weekend, evening and overnight duties, Band 6 Specialist will then be eligible for the Recruitment & Retention premium in addition to normal AfC unsocial hours payments. You will be based at either site, although cross site working will be required as the service demands.
The department has full training status with the IBMS. Band 6 Annex 21 BMS will receive Specialist Portfolio support. Support for further education will be given for IBMS expert practice / Higher specialist diploma and other post graduate qualification, including MSc. We are able to offer £8000 relocation expenses (subject to meeting essential criteria) and up to £4,707 recruitment and retention premium pro rata per annum * in addition to support for learning and development.
(Applications will be considered: For Part time/ Job share roles. From Biomedical Science graduates who have diagnostic, clinical laboratory experience in Blood Sciences, initially graded as Agenda for Change Band 6 Annex 21).

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email [email protected] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
