Trainee Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Microbiology)

Band 6 (Annex 21)

Trosolwg o'r swydd

The microbiology department at Maidstone Hospital has 2 new  specialist training posts available for HCPC registered staff who wish to undertake the IBMS Specialist Diploma in microbiology.

These posts have been created to expand our team to allow us to move to 7 day working and maintain the requirements of our respiratory testing pathway.

There are 2 posts available: one full time 37.5hrs per week and the second part time 30hrs per week (to be worked across 4 full days). The successful candidates will embed their generic Registration training within a microbiology laboratory and then work jointly on specialist competency across all areas of bacteriology, serology, respiratory and enteric CL3  and GUMD molecular  sections whilst completing the IBMS Specialist Portfolio. Our expectation is that the portfolio and relevant competencies will be completed within a 2 year window. On completion of 50% the successful candidate will move off of the annexe salary to bottom spine point of Band 6 and remain capped there until award of the IBMS Specialist Diploma.

The post holder will be expected to join the microbiology 'on call' rota at the end of the first year.
