Job overview

This role will involve driving the many Trust vehicles within the Transport fleet to fulfil the functions of the service to Hospitals, Clinics and Departments throughout the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust area; transporting laundry, provisions, samples, notes etc.

To become a member of the rotating transport shift that will be required to work occasional Saturday shifts as part of their working week.

The Transport fleet consists of approximately 20 vehicles which includes One 7.5 ton Lorry, 3.5 ton box vans and various other vehicles.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will form part of the team within the General Transport Department driving competently and safely all the vehicles within the fleet as required.
  • Responsible for the daily safety checks on the vehicles (i.e. Tyres, Oil, Water etc.) and that the vehicle is in a clean & tidy condition.
  • Accountable to the Team Leader and Transport Manager for the duties allocated according to set schedules and timetables as well as some ad-hoc duties.
  • To complete the required documentation concerned with the vehicles allocated (i.e. log sheets, journey forms, defect reports etc.)
  • Required to support and work across sites in exceptional circumstances.
  • To be able to use Transport delivery hardware ensuring chain of custody for every delivery/collection.
