Job overview

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Location: Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). This is a pivotal role in shaping and delivering innovative, robust, and effective digital services across our Trust, ensuring we stay at the forefront of digital transformation in healthcare.

As the CTO, you will play a critical role in setting the technical direction for the organisation, driving operational and strategic digital transformation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. You will lead a diverse team, work collaboratively with key stakeholders, and ensure our digital systems are resilient, forward-thinking, and compliant with industry standards.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inspirational and compassionate leadership, ensuring staff are supported, empowered, and engaged to deliver meaningful change.
  • Work with the CIO to develop and implement the strategy and business plan for Digital Support Services, leading key elements of both.
  • Drive service quality, performance, governance, and workforce planning in Digital Support Services, leading service improvements where necessary.
  • Build and manage external relationships with key partners, including Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), Health Care Partnerships (HCPs), and local authorities, deputising for the CIO when required.
  • Lead on audit and quality improvement programmes to reduce unwarranted variation in Digital Support Services.
  • Oversee multiple budgets within the Digital Support Services directorate.

We are looking for a motivated leader who is passionate about digital innovation. The successful candidate will have experience in delivering complex digital initiatives, digital technology service delivery, a strong understanding of digital transformation in a healthcare setting, and the ability to inspire teams to reach their full potential.

If you would like to learn more contact Sue Forsey, CIO via [email protected] to arrange an informal discussion.

Please note that this role may often attract a high level of applications. Please note this role may close earlier than the original closing date so please ensure you submit your application as soon as possible.
