An opportunity has arisen to work within the Decontamination Distribution Department at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Hospital as a Band 3 Decontamination Supervisor. This post alternates between both sites within the trust: therefore the successful candidates will be required to travel to both Maidstone & Pembury.
The post holder will be required to work 37.5hours a week between the hours of 7am-7pm on both sites Monday – Friday and weekends on a rota basis. Currently set at one weekend in four.
The post holder would benefit from having the following attributes: good computer skills, good people skills and a flexible approach to working.
The post holder must also be able to carry out manual handling duties as this role will involve lots of walking and will involve the movement of large trolleys around the hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working within a small team and will be responsible for ensuring that the team are supervised in their day to day work and that this is carried out professionally. The post holder will be directly working with many staff including Ward Nurses, Department Leads and the Theatres Teams.
The post holder will be expected to directly deal with external contractors on a daily basis and make relevant decision in relation to the theatre needs in conjunction with the Decontamination Coordinator and Assistant General Manager
The post holder will play a vital role in the checking of loan kit and non-conforming products and will work directly with the company reps to obtain the correct paperwork associated with any loans.
The post holder will working extensively with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of general education to include Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
- Willingness to learn in the field of decontamination.
Desirable criteria
- Science based subject advantageous
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good basic level of computer skills
- Experience of record keeping
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of basic surgical instrumentation advantageous
- Knowledge of decontamination process advantageous
