Job overview

We are delighted to announce that a full time Nursery Nurse opportunity has become available within the Perinatal Mental Health Community Service. The position is for the West Kent Team, working across the localities of Maidstone and South West Kent.

The West Kent team base is in Maidstone.    

Working closely with NHS England, the aim is to improve the access and quality of perinatal mental health services across the counties.

We are therefore looking for an experienced Nursery Nurse to provide nursery nursing interventions and support to women in the community who are experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health issues. This will include women in the antenatal and postnatal periods. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working alongside professionals offering therapeutic input as well as wider community teams.

You must have a recognised Child Care qualification e.g. NNEB or BTEC National Diploma.

 

 

Main duties of the job

Work as a member of the MDT, assisting in the provision of interventions to meet the needs of the baby for those mothers receiving in-patient care.

Promoting and supporting the health of the mother and baby.

Provide an effective and supportive nursery nurse service to mothers in the antenatal and postnatal period, within the community.

Support the mother and the rest of the MDT ensuring the emotional and practical care of the baby and to monitor developmental progress.

Work in partnership with the family and the wider community nursing teams e.g. Midwives, Health Visitors, Community staff nurses, and Community Nursery Nurses.
