Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will work within your specialty team, under the supervision of a consultant, to provide care for inpatients as well as participating in outpatient clinics.
The successful candidate will work closely with Oncology Consultants from MFT and Kent Oncology Centre but also with Acute Oncology CNSs and Chemotherapy Nurses and will undertake supervised responsibility for the management of oncology patients presenting with oncological emergencies such as side effects of SACT, Neutropenic Sepsis, Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression or cancer related complications.
They will be expected to provide support to the Nurse led outpatient chemotherapy unit and supervise the Junior Doctors on Lawrence ward.
The detailed job plan will be developed according to the appointee’s level of experience in oncology but prior exposure to cancer patient management and oncology is expected for this role.
The appointee will have the opportunity to attend Tumour Site Specific MDTs and Outpatient Oncology Clinics and will be encouraged to participate in Research and Clinical Trials according to their personal interest.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to be involved in oncology publications and will be expected to undertake audit and quality improvement projects, as well as to attend clinical governance meetings, regional and national educational meetings and the participation in the local education programme of teaching.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognised by GMC
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of achievement of ST2/CT2 competences in relevant specialty at time of application
- Sound knowledge/background in Acute General Internal Medicine
- Knowledge and experience in oncology , management of solid tumour cancer and management of treatment related toxicities
- Clinical Governance principles
Skills
