We are recruiting for a Head of Chief Medical Officer’s Service and Senior Medical Workforce Manager who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and team at Medway are responsible for supporting and enabling our highly talented medical colleagues to develop professionally at Medway.
Medical appraisal and revalidation,
Leadership development for new Consultants,
Job Planning and efficient use of resources,
Managing capability and conduct issues relating to doctors,
Delivering on Get It Right First Time
Providing and managing a range of governance responsibilities to deliver safe and effective care within the Medway Hospital.
To be successful in this role you will need to have a track record of managing a complex and professional service, a keen knowledge of workforce development and the drive and passion to deliver results.

Essential criteria
- Master’s degree qualification, equivalent academic or professional experience in relevant business area.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable senior management experience of leading, developing and management in health services
- Experience of managing job planning including utilisation of job planning software
- Experience of solving a range of operational and strategic problems involving HR and finance
- Experience of working with all grades of medical staff.
- Experience of conducting negotiations relating to complex matters with senior managers both internal and external to the organisation.
- Experience of preparing and presenting reports for consideration at executive forums
- Evidence of managing service redesign/organisational change
- Experience of budget management and delivering cost improvement programmes
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Awareness of strategic management processes and their application re: fiscal planning, workforce planning and information.
- Understanding of IT systems and appreciation of their application and management in order to ensure effective service delivery
- Demonstrates a knowledge and awareness of good HR practice, including a working knowledge of contract/employment law.
- Knowledge of external environment including national and regional strategies and priorities, and the national political agenda
- Sound knowledge of the clinical and corporate governance agendas.
- Knowledge of governance issues arising from recent investigations into the provision of health services.
- Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrating sensitivity/understanding to a wide range of different people / organisations.
