Are you looking for an opportunity to advance your occupational therapy career in Paediatrics? Come and work for Children’ Integrated Therapy and Equipment Service in the beautiful surroundings of East Sussex.

We are a highly successful integrated therapy service with a pooled budget across health and social care since 2013. Although based in East Sussex, we are employed by KCHFT which is an outstanding trust. We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working together and in partnership with other teams to provide seamless care.

We are an assessment and advice service as well as providing interventions to children and young people using evidence-based approaches including Sensory Integrative informed practice in line with RCOT, trauma-informed care, Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance, Neurodevelopmental approach and with a focus on enabling. 

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist (0.8-1.0wte), with minimum of 2- years post qualification experience in paediatrics with an interest in neurodevelopmental conditions. 

East Sussex are in the process of implementing a multi-agency neurodevelopmental pathway which includes Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy. We are therefore seeking highly motivated and innovative therapists to embrace new ways of working aimed at transforming the local offer in schools to improve inclusion and reduce SEMH secondary to unmet needs.

This post would also be a good opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who has experience working in clinics, school or community settings with an interest in developing skills in upper-limb, postural management and working in collaboration with schools. There is a robust induction and training programme in place.

This post is based in the neighbourhood team (either Eastbourne or Hastings location), working with children or young people from 0-19 years across early years settings, mainstream schools and in the community. 

The post-holder will work closely with the Therapy One Point team of therapists and as part of an integrated therapy team including Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists including Adaptation specialists and Integrated Therapy Assistants.

Experience

  • Documented evidence of continued professional development. Appropriate experience working as a clinician for a minimum of two years. Documented evidence of provision of training to colleagues or other professional staff.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of educational settings Understanding of statutory assessment process and EHCP provision Understanding of universally available programmes to schools
