Job overview

This post is a full time, two-year fixed term contract.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to undergo a two-year training programme leading to a national qualification as a Pharmacy Technician. The successful applicant/s will attend college to achieve the qualification.

To undertake a training and education programme through Apprenticeship funding. This will include a General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) approved qualification, the level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Apprenticeship. Candidates must ensure they are eligible for apprenticeship funding.

Main duties of the job

Experience will be gained by rotating through all the specialist sections of the pharmacy department including Dispensary, reception, stores, chemotherapy dispensary, Medicines Information and wards. This post will be 2 days a week in Littlebrook Hospital, one day at college and 2 days at Darent Valley Hospital.

Training will include classroom learning, online learning, practical training through shadowing and mentoring, alongside learning support from the education provider and the Education & Training team in the Pharmacy department and time spent writing assessments and assignments.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Applicants must hold a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (Grade C or above) or above to include English, Maths and Science, or hold equivalent accredited prior learning. Hospital experience would be an advantage as would holding the Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Service Skills.

It is essential that applicants have the motivation and commitment to achieve a qualification whilst working in a busy operational department. This role will require you to perform some study in your own time.
