We are seeking an experienced Digital Project Manager to lead our Digital Transformation Projects. This is a unique opportunity to drive forward digital transformation initiatives within our organisation and make a real impact on the delivery of healthcare services for patients and communities across Dartford and Gravesham.

Main duties of the job

Lead the overall planning, direction, coordination, and implementation of the Digital Transformation Projects. Responsible for project planning, execution, and delivery within scope, budget, and timelines.

Implement effective project management governance and provide leadership in digital project delivery.

Manage and guide the Business Change Analyst team.

Requirements:

Proven track record in programme management, preferably within a healthcare setting.

Strong experience in managing complex projects within healthcare or related sectors.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Relevant qualifications in project management or related field.

 Extensive experience Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities: -

Project Planning and Strategy

Clearly define the scope of digital projects, ensuring all stakeholders have a mutual understanding of expected outcomes.

Create detailed design and requirements, process maps, project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resources needed, to achieve project objectives.

Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring smooth project execution.

Determine and allocate necessary resources, including personnel and budget, effectively across projects.

Execution and Monitoring

Oversee the execution of digital projects, ensuring compliance with the project plan and specifications.

Regularly check project progress against goals and timelines, adjusting strategies as needed.

Implement quality control processes to maintain standards in all digital outputs.

Keep all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle through well-crafted management reports, including detailed RAID log, scope, plans (milestones, communications, test,  training, cutover and handover) and benefits baseline.

Education and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters Level or equivalent knowledge and competency
  • Prince 2 or project management qualification
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing learning / CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Business Management qualifications preferred
  • Training qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Specialist knowledge of project management, improvement and business development theory and techniques and knowledge of how this can work within the NHS
  • Knowledge of budget management and cost control, evaluating and monitoring business performance
  • Politically adept with an astute grasp of relevant issues displaying a clear high level understanding of both national and local agenda and how they can be managed
  • Excellent knowledge of business development and current affairs in health related matters
  • Proven ability to communicate in hostile, emotional, antagonistic or complex professional environments
  • Well-developed influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills - communicating and influencing with impact verbally and/or in writing
  • High quality analytical and numeric skills with strong financial management skills – able to analyse data and financial information to determine performance against plan and the actions necessary to keep on track

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience in a PMO/ Improvement role at a senior level
  • Record of successfully delivering improvement objectives and finding innovative solutions to complex multi-factorial problems
  • Production and adjustment of project/programme management plans for a number of complex projects/programmes
  • Budget management and development of Business Cases for investment / disinvestment to ensure best use of available resource
  • Evidence of leading change in a multidisciplinary/complex environment
  • Experience of business and service planning and development for complex service organisations
  • Significant project management experience at a senior level
  • Proven track record of delivering major complex projects on time
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience preferable
  • Experience of working with different clinical professions all of whom have to contribute to the delivery of patient care in an integrated, coordinated, caring and compassionate way
  • Previously worked in an earned autonomy environment whereby results drive less direct scrutiny
