Antenatal Clinic Receptionist/Administrator

We're looking for a passionate and organised individual to join our friendly and supportive team at our busy Antenatal Clinic. You'll play a vital role in ensuring a  positive experience for those who are attending the clinic. In this varied and rewarding role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of our clinic, providing a warm and welcoming environment for expectant parents.

What you'll do:

  • Be the first point of contact for patients, greeting them warmly and efficiently.
  • Manage clinic reception duties, including answering phones, booking appointments, and processing paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinic documentation.
  • Assist the clinical team with administrative tasks.
  • Ensure a clean, tidy, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

To be able to use own initiative when dealing with the public and screening telephone calls and communicating with women, relatives and colleagues in a courteous and helpful way.

On a daily basis, undertake errands to other departments as   necessary to the relevant department etc and obtain medical notes as required. 

To provide accurate patient information to other departments/hospitals/outside agencies as appropriate and ensure relevant paperwork is completed and filed.

To prepare necessary paperwork and equipment enabling midwives to carry out their duties within the Community/Hospital setting.

Use analytical and judgement skills to determine best course of action for patient and staff enquires.

To utilise keyboard skills and computer knowledge as appropriate including entering demographic details on the maternity computer system in the absence of a midwife.  Access screening results for midwives.

To protect the confidentiality of information relating to the Trust, Patients, staff and other agencies.

To provide clerical support to any other areas within the department as appropriate(on a daily basis).

To complete statistical data as required by the Trust.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE standard of literacy and numeracy

  • Previous customer/patient facing experience
