Advanced Level Pharmacist - Homecare

Job overview

The post holder will act as the lead pharmacist for Pharmacy Homecare Services and Team at East Kent Hospitals NHS University Foundation Trust, to lead, deliver, develop and evaluate the service in accordance with the objectives set by the Medicines Value Team Lead.

Additionally, the post holder will need to ensure the homecare services are consistently of high quality and are in line with the Hackett good practice guidelines as well as local policies and procedures.

In order to keep their clinical skills current the post holder will  be expected to spend some of their time providing clinical pharmacy work cover. This will be timetabled work (job planned) and will be dependent on the needs of the department and the experience of the post holder.

Main duties of the job

·       To operate as an Advanced Pharmacist in Homecare and across the Trust

·       To be the dedicated pharmacist for Homecare services across the trust and supporting safe and effective use of medicines within Homecare and a specific clinical specialty to improve medicines safety

·       To operationally oversee on a day to day basis the performance of the Homecare team working at KCH.

·       To effectively manage and supervise pharmacists working within the homecare team and oversee the supervision of other pharmacy staff working in the homecare service

Essential criteria
  • Significant hospital clinical pharmacy experience
  • Teaching, mentoring and tutoring experience
  • Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Service improvement and change management skills
  • Specialist knowledge of Home Care Services
  • Experience of managing a team

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical council
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Registered Independent prescriber or willingness to complete
  • Accreditation of Practice/educational supervisor training programme or equivalent
