Senior Business Operational Manager

NHS AfC: Band 8b

Job overview

We are looking for an excellent, highly motivated and talented individual to provide direct support to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). You will be working closely with them to lead, organise and facilitate the effective delivery of their portfolio, and to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the CMO office on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will be able to co-ordinate and manage multiple pressures so that the CMO is able to concentrate on their priorities and maximise the use of their time in delivering their objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic role at the heart of an NHS Foundation Trust. The role will provide the opportunity to be involved with interesting, complex and high-profile work across the organisation. You will need to be motivated, pro-active and a self-starter. You will be adept at navigating the political landscape and willing to grow your networks and build new relationships in order to deliver your objectives. The role will offer you the opportunity to hone and develop the skills you already have to the next level as well as developing new skills in this role

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for supporting the CMO in helping them to deliver their various responsibilities across the breadth of their remit. Although this will vary on a day-to-day basis such responsibilities may include:

  • Leading the efficient and effective operation of the CMO office on a daily basis.
  • Using a project management approach to support the team to deliver and achieve key milestones and objectives within their portfolio.
  • Ensure the engagement of individuals critical to the delivery of objectives and facilitate events to enable engagement and communication of plans.
  • Develop an understanding of key organisational objectives; anticipate, establish and facilitate future programmes and projects that will be required to ensure these are delivered within the remit of the CMO role.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
