Job overview

 

The post holder will support the Rheumatology department: 

a) To participate in various outpatient activities including the medical management of patients attending outpatient clinics.

b) It will also be the post holder responsibility to ensure Rheumatology ward referrals are completed within 24 hours after being received.

d) The monitoring of the quality of service given by the Rheumatology Department, which will include clinical audits. 

e) Active participation in various committees and working groups. 

f) Participation in development of rheumatology treatment protocols. 

g) Demonstrating an involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit.  

h) Contributing to collaborating with Clinical colleagues. 

i) Ensuring own practice is up to date. This will include taking responsibility for own clinical professional development and participation in the Trust wide appraisal system. 

j) Complying with data protection. 

k) Complying with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures.  

Main duties of the job

Initially the job plan will consist of 3 clinics per week, 2 SPA, rest admin and ward referrals.

After 6 months in post, this will increase to  4 clinics per week.

·       Weekly Biologics MDT

·       Monthly Educational Meeting

·       Monthly Vasculitis,  GCA Regional MDT

·       Monthly Radiology MDT

·       Monthly Hospital Grand Rounds

·       Involvement in Medical Students and Junior Doctor teaching

·       Opportunity for audit and research

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience as a speciality trainee (or equivalent competencies) – 1 year in Rheumatology
Desirable criteria
  • Broad experience in Rheumatology

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or graduate of a UK Medical School Clinical skills commensurate with experience IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP (Part 1/ 2 ) Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching ALS (or equivalent)
