Job overview

You will be supporting the service by ensuring equipment is disinfected and available to the clinicians and the nursing team to carry out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will play a key role in ensuring that the unit delivers service in line with National and local Decontamination Polices.

To maintain credibility and flexibility as a competent practitioner in an ever-changing environment, while continuing to develop professionally in line with the demands of a responsive nursing service focussed on the needs of patients.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will be decontaminating, maintaining and storing this equipment following Infection prevention guidelines. The organisation works closely with JAG utilising JETS to assist you to become competent in your practice

You will be a part of a forward-thinking enthusiastic team. Full induction (including four weeks supernumery) and training will be provided depending on any previous experience you may have. We encourage and give staff the opportunity to develop their skills and competencies within this specialty.

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or Equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 or care certificate
  • Decontamination qualification or willingness to undertake

Clinical skills and Experiance

Essential criteria
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good standard of literacy & numeracy.
Desirable criteria
  • Experiance of working in an Endoscopy unit
  • Previous experience of problem solving.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Governance

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of decontamination processes
  • Good understanding of Infection Control.
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of DOH HTM01-06 BSG Decontamination standards
  • Health & Safety Training
  • Understanding of END21 competencies.
  • Knowledge of Datix/Solus systems.

Personal/professional attributes

  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Effective communicator
  • Good time management
