Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Dental Technician, skilled in denture restoration, to work as a member of our expanding East Kent Maxillofacial Laboratory Service team.
You will be part of a department that is expanding in size, working closely with our restorative clinicians and developing innovative and dynamic ways of treating our patients. We are looking for a highly skilled individual, who will provide high quality complex, advanced removable conventional and implant dental prostheses with a keen interest and enthusiasm to take on this vital role within the laboratory multidisciplinary team of prosthetists and technicians.
Our Maxillofacial Laboratory Service is based at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and supports the wider multi-discipline clinical services of maxillofacial and oral surgery, orthodontics and restorative dentistry across our various trust sites. Ourselves working as a multi-discipline team within one laboratory.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will play an important senior role within a multidiscipline team, with access to CAD, 3D printer and offsite CAM facilities with the majority of work supporting our restorative dentistry head and cancer services.
The post holder is responsible for achieving a consistently high standard in the production of precision and highly complex fixed prosthodontics osseo-integrated implant supported structures and restorations including both single and multi-unit metal bonded to Denture restorations.

Experience
Essential criteria
- minimum 2 years dental laboratory experience, working in restorative/prosthetics
- Experience of Medical Devices Regulations and knowledge of quality control standards
- Use of CAD/CAM in the planning, designing and manufacture of conventional and implant components for fixed and removable protheses.
Desirable criteria
- Experience/understanding of hospital laboratory and treatment pathways
- Working knowledge of other Dental Specialities.
- High level of IT skills
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Dental Technology (3/4 years) or equivalent
- Registration with the GDC and continuous professional and personal development portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Advanced qualification Removable Prosthodontic Technology or Implantology (2 years) or equivalent specialist courses

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
