Main duties of the job

Supporting registered nursing staff in the provision of clinical care to the patients . 

Some housekeeping tasks e.g., preparation of drinks, breakfasts, cleaning etc.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assist the patient in all activities of daily living, with both direct and indirect supervision as delegated by a registered nurse.

Maintain patient comfort, dignity and privacy at all times.

Prepare patients drinks, serve meals and provide assistance as required.

Assist in the emergency resuscitation of patients, following appropriate training.

Escort patients to other areas and departments as per Trust escort protocol.

 

Maintain high standards of care in an environment which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals.

Essential criteria
  • Good basic education
  • Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Consider NVQ Level 2 Direct Care
  • Core 2, Level 1, Contribute to own personal development

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Physically capable of performing the role and responsibilities expected of the post holder e.g. manual handling of patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Attend annual update and complete e-learning modules, as required in relation to manual handling.

Aptitudes

Essential criteria
  • Able to use initiative to cope in a variety of situation
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness under pressure
  • Able to work as part of a team
