Job overview

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 7 Ward Manager to lead our dynamic healthcare team. The Ward Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, managing staff performance and development, and overseeing the efficient day-to-day operations of the ward. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive working environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Nurse Team Manager you will lead and manage the ward team to deliver exceptional patient care.

Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and standards.

Oversee staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.

Manage ward resources effectively, including budgeting and supplies.

Address and resolve patient and family concerns promptly and professionally.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.

Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives.

Maintain accurate records and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of post registration in the hospital setting
  • Relevant experience at Band 6 or equivalent within acute setting
  • Significant experience and demonstrable knowledge of caring for complex medical and care of the elderly patients.
  • Responsibility for management of staff
  • Demonstrate change management within team
  • Budget management
Desirable criteria
  • Recent experience at band 7

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of team management skills
  • Experience of Human resource issues relating to staff.
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills
  • Ability to direct and work within a team.
  • Evidence of involvement in audit and change processes related to audit.
  • Computer literacy
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to lead and manage change.
  • Negotiation skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Wide knowledge of speciality and common general medical conditions and their management
  • Good understanding of professional nursing issues.
  • Understanding of skill mix and workload patterns
  • Awareness of health and safety legislation
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register. Mentorship & Assessor course- or equivalent
  • Evidence of professional development and commitment to lifelong learning and to produce personal professional portfolio.
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership course post registration course
