We are currently looking for a CAMHS Band 6 CYP Practitioner/Band 7 Therapist to work on a Bank agreement for our teams across Watford & Borehamwood 

You will be responsible for the daily CAMHS duty system, which involves: screening and managing all new referrals; responding to telephone queries, offering telephone follow-up to children and young people who have attended A&E; responding to telephone queries and supporting the team where necessary.

In addition, you may be required to screen referrals for ADHD, offer face-to-face appointments and manage a caseload as the service needs.

In the absence of the named care coordinator, you may be required to provide cover. For example, meetings, e.g., CPAs; discharge planning.

The post holder will provide a core element of the service for children and adolescents by completing initial assessments when required and providing case management to young people awaiting treatment. The post holder will play an active role in multi-disciplinary discussions and assessments. 

You will work with other CAMHS practitioners in the service from all disciplines. You will be a member of a number of internal and external professional networks to ensure that care plans for individual children and services across agencies are coordinated efficiently and effectively. This focus of the post is on covering the Duty.

To ensure that all recording and reporting of client contact is timely, accurate, up to date and of good quality and within CAMHS & professional standards of record keeping. To collect & collate information about individual clinical activity on PARIS.

Close liaison with schools and other agencies involved.

Work with the team and clients to maintain a safe therapeutic environment.

Work to assure the quality of care through achieving high operational standards in clinical systems.

To maintain and ensure good professional standards and attitudes towards the care and treatment of children, young people and their families.

To link with other statutory and voluntary agencies and professionals as well as other CAMHS Teams in terms of referrals and joint work. Maintain good relationships and clear lines of communication within the boundaries of confidentiality, with other professional agencies and departments, providing specialist advice and support where appropriate.

Contribute to the effective functioning of the team and service through attendance at relevant meetings, taking responsibilities within the service as appropriate and negotiated with the line manager.

 

The post holder will be expected to have post registration experience in a mental health setting, ideally with children and adolescents and in managing risk. 

 

Regular supervision will be provided, and support will be readily available from Duty Senior/ Duty Psychiatrist.

 

The post holder will provide advice and consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team, external agencies such as GPs, schools etc, clinical and performance management supervision to trainees and less experienced professionals where appropriate.

 

They will take a lead role in developing a seamless service between community services, inpatient services, and adult mental health services. They will coordinate referrals to other agencies and work with other agencies to prevent the need for hospitalization

Education and Qualifications

  • All applicants will require a professional training and relevant CAMHS experience in combination with professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC), Health Professional's Council (HPC), Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP), The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
  • Relevant professional training will include: First level nursing qualification/registration RMN or RSCN or HV with related CAMHS experience or any as below: First level qualification in Occupational therapy, Clinical or Counselling Psychology, Social work, or equivalent with related CAMHS experience.
