We are looking to recruit to enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 SLTs, who wish to extend their skills/experiences, with a view moving to a Band 6 post on transition to full clinical autonomy.  Posts will be based at our main sites in either : Stevenage, Hemel Hempstead/St Albans, Bishop Stotford/ Hertford and Watford.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 SLT, you will provide assessment and intervention to children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs.  You will work across a variety of settings, from mainstream schools/ early years settings, to Children’s community settings, including community clinics. There are also some opportunities to work closely with experienced therapists within special school settings.

You will work collaboratively with education staff within settings, and you may also have the opportunity to work within a specialist provision for children with learning difficulties.  You will have opportunity to develop your clinical skills in areas such as ASD, DLD and speech disorders, and cleft palate.

We have an excellent reputation for the support we provide to new graduates and returners.   We offer:

  • A 2 week induction period where you will have the opportunity to observe and shadow
  • Regular clinical supervision and contact with your manager.
  • Access to a range of learning opportunities e.g. bitesize tutorials and CENs, including ASD and DLD
  • Regular access to a Band 5 peer support group and a buddy
  • A well-established appraisal system
  • Opportunities to work alongside other therapists/assistants to deliver evidence based episodes of care
  • Joint working and second opinions from clinical specialists within the service
