Job overview

We are recruiting for Clinical Support Workers - Theatres who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You must be 18+ to undertake this post.

You will work alongside Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners, get Theatre ready, making sure the correct equipment is available while maintaining a sterile environment. You will assist the registered practitioner, ensuring excellent patient care is given, that align with our trust values.

Assessments will take place on Friday 20th December 2024, if you are successful you will be invited back for your interview.

Main duties of the job

This role could see you work in any of the Theatre areas, both at the Lister or QE2. You would help in setting up your allocated Theatre, making sure all the equipment needed for the day is ready and available.

You will also be trained in the Pre-Op area, where you will take basic patient observations, and stay with them until they are called to Theatre.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • GCSEs (or equivalent qualification or standard) in English and Math
Desirable criteria
  • Care Certificate
  • Health and Social Care Level 2

Previous Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of healthcare or care work
  • Experience of working with the general public or a range of different people

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively people with varying levels of understanding
  • Evidence of being self-motivated
  • Evidence of working effectively as part of a team
  • Basic IT skills – ability to use keyboard or willingness to develop
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a busy, sometimes pressurized environment
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to use judgement on when to escalate issues and problems
Desirable criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to use them to communicate effectively with patients within a multi-disciplinary team
