Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker - Theatres who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

It’s an exciting time for Theatres. We are a highly motivated team of 300 staff members who are always working hard to support our patients, and each other. We are a dynamic, multicultural department, offering state of the art equipment, including 3 Robots, and a hybrid Vascular Theatre due to open later this year.

East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is currently recruiting for the post of Clinical Support Worker, to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide a high standard of patient care.

You must be 18+ to undertake this post.

We currently CSW opportunities in the following areas  

  • Theatres 

Assessments will take place on Saturday 3rd August 2024, if you are successful you will be invited back for your interview.

This role will require the successful candidate to work cross site, between Lister Hospital, Stevenage, and the QEII Hospital, Welwyn.

Some of the responsibilities within the role of Clinical Support Worker are:

  • Communicating with patients
  • Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Midwife
  • Washing / dressing patients
  • Taking patients physiological observations
  • Making beds and cleaning bed areas
  • Serving meals and assisting feeding patients
  • Talking / listening to patients

This is a training post, while applicants must undertake 16 months apprenticeship.

Qualifications / Training

Desirable criteria
  • Level 3 Health & Social Care equivalent qualification. ·
  • GCSE or Functional skills Level 1 & 2 in Math’s and English.
  • Willingness to complete a Higher Development Award

Previous Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with the general public or a range of different people
  • Experience in a health care setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings with patients, relatives, carers, and other members of staff of varying levels of understanding
  • Evidence of being self-motivated
  • Evidence of working effectively as part of a team
  • Basic IT skills – ability to use keyboard or willingness to develop
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to use them to communicate effectively with patients within a multi-disciplinary team
