Job overview

We are recruiting for a Distribution Support Worker who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

We are looking for a dedicated and organised stores/distribution support worker to join our Acute Medical Services Unit and be an essential part of a lovely team! 

The staff member will assist with the maintenance of stores and stock in the Acute Medical Services Unit. This will include keeping stock tidy, assisting with the receipt and storage of goods and ensuring all stock is in date.

Main duties of the job

The Distribution Support Worker will assist with the receipt, storage and issues of stock, including the maintenance of records. 

Ensure all stock is in date and stored correctly, and any out-of-date stock is discussed with ward matron/senior nurse prior to disposal according to Trust Policy.

You will stock-take and determine what supplies are needed, keeping to desired stock levels.

To unpack goods checking quantity and quality against order and delivery note.

To ensure effective stock rotation, keep stock in a tidy and efficient manner.

To stock-take, monitor, report and determine what supplies are needed, keeping to desired maximum and minimum stock levels held in AMS stores.

Replenish and maintain all emergency equipment and trolleys as well as regular cleaning and stocking of equipment trolleys in use in the clinical area. Trolleys should be checked daily.

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a comparable retail or admin environment.
  • Working with customers
Desirable criteria
  • Stores/warehouse experience.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare setting.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Accurate team worker.
  • Able to undertake simple word processing.
  • Achieves objectives in timescale set
  • Able to organize self
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to plan out workload effectively with other stores assistant/members of staff.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to work closely with all grades of staff
  • IT skills – maintaining/creating spreadsheets.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the requirements of the role.

Qualifications

  • Grade C (GCSE) or at least level 5 (new grading) in Maths, Science and English.

  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of moving and handling techniques.
