Job overview

We are recruiting for a Respiratory and Sleep Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. 

You will receive in house mentoring and training in sleep diagnostics and the treatment of sleep disordered breathing.

 The job will be focused on performing diagnostic assessments and sleep diagnostic tests, CPAP treatment setup, routine follow-up, and troubleshooting.

There is also an opportunity to participate in an upcoming National Institute for Health Research project as well as developing local research.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated and highly organised individual to work within the multidisciplinary team at the Digswell Sleep & Chest Unit.

The post holder will perform patient observations and sleep diagnostic clinics, CPAP treatment initiation, follow-up, and troubleshooting.

Prior experience with respiratory assessment and CPAP treatment are desirable and any necessary training to complement existing skills will be provided.

The successful candidate will work as an integral part of a team, prioritise, and manage the workload and work flexibly with staff at all levels. They must have good communication skills, both written and oral, and be computer literate.

  • Good basic education
Desirable criteria
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ 4

Previous Experience

  • Previous experience in health care setting
  • Experience working with Respiratory or Sleep Patients
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of patients with Sleep disorders
  • Experience of CPAP

Skills

  • Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding

  • Good IT skills
