Specialist Interventional Radiographer

NHS AfC: Band 6

Here at  East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust,

Our mission is:
Providing high-quality, compassionate care for our communities

Our vision to 2030 is:
To be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service

Job overview

We are recruiting for a Specialist Interventional Radiographer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

As we grow and promote better patient care and experience, we are looking for experienced radiographers who have proven clinical ability in general radiography, and who have the desire to develop their own career and increase their expertise.

As one of our band 6 Radiographers you’ll join a friendly, energetic department with a lively calendar of social events.

Candidates should be flexible with good communication skills and team working ethic. You must have experience in the NHS and experience in interventional radiography would be an advantage, although we can provide training.

This is based at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage, but you may be required to travel to our other sites. In addition you will participate in on-call  duties to provide emergency vascular imaging to our patients.

Our Values are Include, Respect and Improve. It is important that you understand and refer to our values during your recruitment process and beyond!

Main duties of the job

Our diagnostic radiology service is provided by the Lister hospital, the new Queen Elizabeth II hospital and the Hertford County hospital and includes plain film, interventional, fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, NM SPECT, DXA and breast imaging.

We have two 3T Siemens Skyra scanners and a 1.5T MRI Avanto (re-fitted in November 2018) and 5 CT scanners, three Siemens (two Force and an AS+) and two Toshiba Primes.

Our expanding interventional service includes an interventional room with a GE Innova machine within Radiology and a dedicated recovery area. There is also a further fluoroscopy room.

The Trust will be providing a 24/7 vascular hub for the region and a state of the art hybrid theatre with a Philips Azurion 7 C20 with FelxArm system is currently being installed. This should open in September 2024.

We also use a GE Elite for vascular cases in theatre which include EVARs, angiograms and angioplasties. We perform a wide range of vascular, urology/renal and GI cases.

Working for our organisation

At East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, we are proud of the range of general & specialist services we provide & our 6,000 or so dedicated staff ensure our patients get the best care. Our ability to be flexible & innovative in the way in which we work and deliver our services to our catchment has never been more important than it is now.

 We run the following hospitals:

  • The Lister Hospital, Stevenage
  • New Queen Elizabeth II (New QEII), Welwyn Garden City
  • Hertford County, Hertford
  • Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC), Northwood

We have ambitious plans to become an outstanding, patient-led Trust where dedicated staff provide high-quality, compassionate care to our patients.  We continue to undergo significant transformation; our staff & patients are at the heart of delivering this ambitious agenda.

We understand that finding and starting a new job is an important life decision.  If you need reasonable adjustments for a disability, or a life event, such as menopause - so that we can consider your application fairly & to get the best out of you during the selection process, please let us know.

We are committed to a positive work life balance for our employees.  Employees are entitled to seek to work flexible working patterns & we are committed to listen and consider all requests. Such requests, of course, have to be made & considered formally, & will need to be balanced against service needs, but our starting point will always be to find ways to support making them happen.
