Job overview

We are recruiting for a Neonatal staff Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will be a registered nurse, keen to participate as a member of the Neonatal multidisciplinary team providing evidence based family centred care. 

We are a busy innovative Level 2 Neonatal unit, who have proudly achieved  Stage 1 accreditation of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative in 2021.  A certificate of commitment in support of breastfeeding and the parent/ infant relationship. We have an established Transitional Care unit and we are in the process of expanding the service within the coming year.

Main duties of the job

You will provide holistic family centred care  for Special Care infants and infants on Transitional Care  under supervision  of Nurse Team Manager or Team Leader.

Being responsible for the preparation and storage of infant feeds as part of milk kitchen duties and participate in all duties required in the milk kitchen and actively support breast feeding initiatives.

You will facilitate & deliver parentcraft sessions taking into account the principles of Developmental Care and achieving competency for checking and administering medication.

Assessing ,planning and evaluating the care needs for the baby and the family in partnership with parents and  the MDT.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSCN/ Degree/Diploma in Child Health or RN Adult Nursing.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
Desirable criteria
  • General paediatrics, Midwifery or Neonatal nursing experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Flexible/adaptable
  • Ability to interact effectively with children/family
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous neonatal nursing experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate knowledge of value and use of research findings.
