Job overview

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader - Ward 10A who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.  

We are seeking a highly motivated and hardworking Nurse Team Leader.  Ward 10A is a 24 bedded inpatient unit providing care to oncology/haematology patients and general medical needs.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and must demonstrate expertise and leadership in the delivery of care to their patients.

You will have an ability work collaboratively ensuring the delivery of high quality and safe patient centred care is always adhered to. Supporting continued education, training and staff development is paramount.

You will be responsible for staff acquiring and maintaining professional standards and competencies challenging, and empowering others to challenge, poor practice, act in such a way as to always promote a positive image of the Trust and as such may need to represent the Sister/Charge Nurse with key stakeholders to promote this.

Qualifications/Training

  • RGN/RN Adult Branch
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma or degree in nursing/healthcare related subject
  • Appropriate post registration certificates

Skills

  • Flexibility
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Ability to teach and lead a team
  • Motivation to work in an acute setting for the elderly
  • Management and leadership skills
Desirable criteria
  • Management courses
  • Counselling and appraisal skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In depth knowledge of the nursing care of acute elderly care patients
  • Understanding of the day to day management to running a ward

Previous experience

Essential criteria
  • Medical and nursing experience
  • Ward nursing management experience at upper band 5
  • Extended role skills including IV drugs, cannulation and phlebotomy
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in acute medicine and or elderly care as an RN
