We are recruiting for a Chief Cardiac Physiologist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients

Our Cardiac Physiology team at Lister Hospital is committed to delivering high-quality diagnostic testing with the utmost patient care. We are a close-knit team, comprising four accredited physiologists and seven more working towards accreditation, including apprentices, associates, and senior physiologists. We cover all aspects of invasive cardiology including conduction pacing and Bi-Ventricular pacing.

As Chief Cardiac Physiologist, you will play a crucial role in both supporting the development of our team and enhancing our services. Every day brings new challenges, and you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding your colleagues while ensuring our services evolve to meet the highest standards of care.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and supporting a busy pacing clinic, managing approximately 300 face-to-face appointments and 1,000 remote follow-ups each month for loops, brady, and complex devices.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to perform 700 PCI procedures and 250 Primary PCI procedures annually.
  • Supporting the implantation of around 300 devices each year.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • BSc Clinical Physiology or Health Professions Council registration or recognised precursor
  • Postgraduate profession related qualification, eg. IHBRE or HRUK/BSE
  • Substantial post qualification experience within cardiology
  • Member of Heart Rhythm Society UK/BSE
  • RCCP registered ILS
Desirable criteria
  • Accredited Member of the Society of Cardiological Science and Technology or equivalent
  • Management Diploma
  • MSc Cardiology or equivalent experience
  • Immediate Life Support

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, able to deliver objectives within an agreed time frame
  • Able to apply a fair, consistent and objective approach
  • Proactive approach to quality control and making improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of service

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post graduate experience in technical cardiology
  • Competent to perform a range of highly specialised invasive procedures
  • Competent to perform complex device implant and device followup
  • Experience and competence maintained in all routine noninvasive procedures e.g. exercise tolerance testing,and ECG rhythm analysis.
  • Experience of day to day organisation/ management
  • Understanding of issues pertinent to education of technical cardiology and fully conversant with current curricula
  • Teaching & presentation skills
  • Awareness and understanding of current health issues and in particular to demonstrate a good understanding of CHD services and recent initiatives
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Utilisation of teaching skills
  • Ability to direct and work within a team
