The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients entering the Breast Open Access Follow Up programme (OAFU) following on from their treatment of Breast Cancer.
The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team and will provide support in the proactive management of the Breast Cancer patient pathway for the duration of their follow up, ensuring the entire pathway is tracked and managed smoothly.
Main duties of the job
To track and navigate patients through the breast open access follow up (OAFU) pathways. To undertake the registration of new patients to OAFU pathway where indicated. To ensure protocols are adhered to and follow ups/diagnostic tests are booked and tracked. To provide a comprehensive and efficient administrative service to the patients and clinical team members of the breast cancer pathway. The post will work closely with the clinical breast team and clinical nurse specialists, key stakeholders from other services and in liaison with other hospital as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will help identify capacity issues and escalate these to the service in a timely manner, respond to patient enquiries and work closely with the MDT and CNS teams to escalate patients on a surveillance pathway. This job will involve cross site working.
This is a Full time role.
Fixed Term for 12 months.
We are open to secondment for internal employees.

Education and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Band 4, A level or BTEC / GNVQ level – or relevant job experience.
- Sufficient experience as an NHS Administrator
- Good IT literacy
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of hospital computer systems (Cerner, Infoflex, CRIS)
Desirable criteria
- Working with Breast Cancer Patients.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous NHS administration
- Working in/or with cancer MDT team(s)
- Proven experience of working to deadlines and target
- Experience of communicating complex instructions with sensitivity to patients and relatives.
Desirable criteria
- Working in a changing environment

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
