Job overview

The Audiology Department has a vacancy for a part time Audiology Secretary/Waiting List Co-ordinator.

Working at St Albans City Hospital, the successful applicant will provide administrative services and support to the Audiology and Hearing Therapy Departments at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust.

Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems, some of which are non-routine and  previous NHS experience would be highly beneficial. 

The candidate should be able to work flexibly within a friendly team.

Standard shift pattern:

20 hours/week, 5 hours per day, over 4 days on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday,

Main duties of the job

Maintaining waiting lists and appointing patients.

Answering a very busy phone.

Accepting, triaging, and logging referrals.

Using a specialised Patient Management system.

Dealing with queries from patients/carers by phone, email and writing.

Entering patient data onto spreadsheets.

Using good communication tactics when dealing with hard of hearing patients.
