Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist  to work with the Urology Oncology team and who shares our vision to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This exciting role will give you the opportunity to  contribute to the specialist care and management of patients, who are having treatment within MVCC

You will gain a valuable insight into  supporting patients at diagnosis and through the cancer pathway, including on and post treatment and when disease recurs or advances.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the CNS team and have previous oncology experience.

You will work closely with the Clinical Oncologists and the wider MDT.

Act as a key worker for patients.

Support both NHS and Private patients undergoing treatment in MVCC.

Provide specialist knowledge and support to patients by phone or in person while in clinic.

Act as liaison when required

Have the ability to carry out holistic needs assessments with patients at specific time points within their journey.

Manage an independent workload.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

ENHT is seeking to maintain and expand the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre staff as we move to an exciting new future.

We welcome applications from those who would relish the opportunity to be part of new and developing cancer service, building on the excellent reputation, research and patient experience the Cancer Centre already delivers.

In addition, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,134  and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake
  • Post registration qualification in speciality
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Advanced communication skills/counselling qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Advanced clinical assessment
  • Band 6 or above
Desirable criteria
  • Research module masters
  • Degree

Previous Experience

  • Significant relevant experience in the speciality and ability to demonstrate expert nursing skills
