An opportunity has arisen within the portering department at East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust for a general porter to join our team at Lister Hospital. 

You will have a polite and responsive approach to patients, visitors, and staff, with the ability to work a rotating shift pattern to meet the needs of our service. 

Previous experience in a hospital or customer focused role is desirable but not essential as full training is given.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will provide a portering service for the Lister and other Trust premises, undertaking general portering duties both of a routine and ad-hoc nature.

The post holder will move patients by bed, wheelchairs, and trolleys, change medical gases, collect blood products, take specimens to the pathology lab, take deceased to the mortuary and full training will be provided. The post holder will also need to be flexible as we are a 24/7 department 365 days of the year.  

To collect specimens and x-ray films on a regular basis from all wards and departments, delivering them to the Pathology and Radiology departments respectively. To deliver units of blood and blood products from the Pathology department to the wards and departments. 

To change, connect and disconnect medical gas cylinders as and when required by the wards and departments and to be responsible for ensuring medical gas cylinders are stored in a safe and appropriate manner.

  • Must be confident in giving advice to service users and able to deal calmly and effectively with complaints

Qualifications/Training
