Job overview
We are recruiting for a Clinical Support Worker - Higher Level who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will work as an integral part of the team and demonstrate a willingness to develop the knowledge and skills required to assist in caring for renal haemodialysis patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.
The Clinical Support Worker- Higher Level will provide assistance to the nursing team in the process of haemodialysis and work collaboratively and co-operatively to meet the needs of patients and their families within the sphere of their level of competence related to in-service training, at the discretion of the unit sister.
You will be expected to rotate between the haemodialysis units as service needs dictate and to gain invaluable experience.

Main duties of the job
Establish and maintain communication with people about routine and daily activities overcoming any difficulties in communication between the people involved.
Prepare each individuals environment, equipment and materials appropriately for the procedure prior to starting the procedure.
Undertake the delegated task correctly, effectively and to time.
Report any problems with equipment and materials promptly to the nurse in charge.
Move patients, machinery, and goods in accordance with East & North Herts NHS Trust policies and procedures, whilst identifying and minimising the risks involved.
Assisting with providing of Haemodialysis treatment upon successful completion of QCF level 3 and relevant competency assessment.

Essential criteria
- Previous experience in a renal haemodialysis setting
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good Basic Education
- Renal Unit Training Programme part 1 competencies or equivalent
- Willingness to successfully complete the part 2 Renal Unit Training Programme.
Desirable criteria
- Health related level 2 apprenticeship and QCF (or equivalent qualification).
- Commitment to successfully complete the level 3 apprenticeship and QCF as identified by department (or equivalent qualification)
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding.
- Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
- Ability to work within a team
- Demonstrates a flexible approach to work.
- Basic IT skills or willingness to develop.
