Job overview

The Emergency Department at WVT are expanding our practice education team. 

We are looking for :-

A  Band 7 Practice development nurse who  will support the  nursing team in ED and SDEC to fulfil their potential in the exciting world of  emergency nursing. 

You will have a proven track record of working in Emergency care 

The ideal candidate must be able to build relationships with staff at all stages of their career to support them with the development of skills and competencies is essential

The post holder will be required to work predominately on weekdays and mainly based in the clinical environment.

You must be resilient, an excellent team player and be willing to lead  and facilitate  change  in the workplace

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will support the current PDN in post to ensure that staff feel supported in their day to day duties .

You will demonstrate specialist knowledge within the sphere of  emergency nursing and act as a resource for the Emergency Department, Same day Emergency care Unit, the directorate and the Trust.

You must be  flexible to meet changing demands at short notice.

The successful candidate will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, being able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and part of a team. The successful candidate will be required to have evidence of ongoing professional development with previous post registration experience which is relevant and recent.

 A key role will be to Identify areas of development for the nursing team and ensure that the annual workforce and training education plan is submitted 

Supporting  the  departmental governance and patient safety agenda delivering training to maintain high standards and quality of service.

 To ensure adherence to the Trust’s Health and Safety policies

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Post registration qualification within Emergency l Care or equivalent
  • A1 award or equivalent
  • Emergency Triage Instructor or willingness to undertake within 12 months of appointment
  • Relevant 1st degree or equivalent
  • Post Graduate Certificate Education or willingness to undertake within 12 months of appointment
