Detailed job description and main responsibilities
What you’ll do
The role will involve:
• Undertaking all aspects of general and trauma radiography, fluoroscopy and interventional imaging across 4 departments.
• Providing high quality imaging for in-patients, out-patients, direct access patients and trauma patients.
• Full participation in the shift roster covering the 24/7 service is essential.
• Taking on the role of team leader across a variety of imaging departments, including a busy Emergency X-ray service within our Major Trauma centre.
• Serving as a mentor and teacher for students, supernumerary staff and junior members of the team.
• Taking on additional responsibilities to contribute to the management of the department which will add to your CV appeal.
What we’re looking for
You'll need to have suitable previous experience working as a diagnostic radiographer, an ability to stay calm under pressure and excellent imaging techniques. It would be highly desirable for you to have proven supervisory experience.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registration
- Considerable post graduate experience of working in a department using IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017 regulations in clinical practice
- Appropriate BSc Radiography degree
- Team player who can also work independently
- Able to work within protocols
- Sound knowledge of all areas of Governance including H&S, COSHH, Manual Handling
- Experience of teaching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues training and development.
- Proven ability to effectively adapt imaging technique when necessary
- Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including responding appropriately to distressed patients and staff and distressing circumstances e.g. suspected physical abuse, major trauma, cancer and death.
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Previous supervisory/team leading experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Quality assurance supervision and practice
- Appropriate post qualification experience in imaging
