UHS hosts a large variety of studies, including novel cell therapies and phase 1 trials, for various specialities such as cancer, neurology, ophthalmology, and haematology. 

You would work closely with the specialist pharmacist teams in clinical trials, advanced therapies, haematology/oncology and our technical services team, as well as the wider research team - including trial Sponsor(s), UHS Research and Development team and Clinical Research Associates (CRAs).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities will involve oversite & co-ordination of the Clinical Trials Aseptic team workload to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) (including chemotherapy and advance medicinal products) in compliance with regulatory standards and study protocols, as well as building clinical trial prescriptions on our e-prescribing system (ARIA).

This role will also involve a weekend working commitment in the aseptic units, which would be half a day every 6 weeks. 

What experience/skills are needed:
You will need knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), be able to multitask, and have good attention to detail.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent Technician registered with GPhC. Experience of leading a team
  • One of the following additional specialist pharmacy qualifications Recognised accuracy checking qualification/accreditation. Medicines management qualification. TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload.
  • Extensive post qualification Pharmacy knowledge /experience in one or more areas of pharmacy specialism.
  • Recruitment and selection experience
  • Competent in the accurate supply of medicines (in hospital or community pharmacy)
  • Evidence of commitment to relevant ongoing CPD and personal and professional development
  • Dealing with and resolving customers/patients’ complaints
Desirable criteria
