Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a Driver to join a busy, friendly team within the Linen & Post Services Department. You will be responsible for helping to provide a full internal delivery of linen and post items within and around the site using the Trust Vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Topping up and delivering linen and scrubs items to ward and non-ward linen cupboards in and around the Trust.
- Deliver and collect posts from wards and departments around the trust.
- Participate in the franking of mail leaving the trust.
- Be able to push/pull loaded roll cages or flatbed trolleys up to 180kgs
The post holder will need to be customer-focused with excellent communication skills the ability to work well under pressure, and a desire to provide a first-class service. The ability to interact and build a rapport with colleagues around the organisation and within the team.
A clean driving license is required for this post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
General Duties
- The topping up and delivery of linen and scrubs items to the ward linen cupboards and non-ward areas around the Trust.
- Data entering of daily linen requirements from ward areas ensuring accurate recording onto a stock control system using either a computer or Android tablet device.
- To ensure that linen stock held at ward and department level is regularly rotated and reviewed so that they remain appropriate in terms of stock holding and range.
- Assist in the daily monitoring of linen quality, reporting any concerns immediately to Linen & Post Services Manager/Supervisor.
- Assisting with the transfer of linen from the linen holding areas to the linen room.
- Identifying and resolving stock issues.
- Answering the telephone and responding to requests for linen supplies.
- Load and unload vehicles, as required.
- Daily maintenance checks of vehicles, as per driving instruction sheets and to report any defects to the Supervisor.
- To participate in the sorting of all post including pathological specimens both internal and external mail in line with delivery and collection schedules using the post vehicle.
- To participate in the secure collection and delivery of post.
- To participate in sorting and timely delivery and collection of Health Records/Scanning folders.

Qualifications / training required
Essential criteria
- Full driving licence - with no more than 3 points
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Basic computing skills
Previous or relevant experience necessary
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a customer facing environment
- Experience in linen or post services roles
- Experience of using moving and handling equipment such as roll cages, pallet trucks and flat bed trollies
Aptitudes and skills required
