Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will provide registrar level (ST3+) support to the diabetes and endocrine specialty. There is no on-call or out of hours work. There will be opportunity to do Diabetes and Endocrine clinics and to support endocrine dynamic function testing. You will also share the Endocrine & Diabetes inpatient referral work with the specialist trainees (with consultant support). There will also be opportunities to attend tertiary specialist / multidisciplinary clinics in a supernumerary capacity for further experience. Even if diabetes/endocrinology isn’t a likely career path, this post is also suitable for those wishing to get a good core grounding in diabetes and endocrinology which will be essential in any medical or surgical specialty within a modern NHS with the growing population of diabetes (23% of inpatients).

The post can be tailored to someone looking to explore Speciality (Post Core Training) level training in Diabetes and Endocrinology. MRCP part 2 or equivalent is essential. Previous experience in service improvement / quality improvement and diabetes and endocrinology clinical experience is preferable.

This post will provide the successful applicant with an excellent opportunity to enhance their CV and future applications for pursuing a career in Diabetes and Endocrinology or within other medical or surgical specialties where experience in diabetes/endocrinology will likely be a differentiator in applications.

This post will provide wide range of clinical experience, an opportunity to get involved in D&E projects, audits, teaching, writing case reports and publications to give opportunity to add to CV beyond ward based clinical work.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for candidates ideally who are fully registered with the GMC and ideally already have experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology at registrar or CMT level.  Candidates should have good leadership skills, always be patient focused and excellent communicators.  We are looking for colleagues that would embody the UHS trust values of “Patients first”, “Working together” and “Always improving”.
UHS is a Global Digital Exemplar, one of a few leading trusts named as being pioneers of digital innovation in healthcare. As such, we recently became the first in the country to offer all our patients access to their hospital records online.
