Progressive Sister/Charge Nurse (Cath Labs)

Band 5

Job overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for a detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a progressive Sister/Charge Nurse role in the cardiac catheter labs, to support service expansion. In this role you will be expected to progress the expansion of the service, supporting the current nursing management within the catheter labs and exhibiting advanced nursing skills.

The catheter labs run 08:00 – 18:00, 5 days per week, with out of hours covered by an on-call service. It is expected that all qualified members of the team will partake in covering the on-call service. There are 4 catheter labs and a hybrid theatre, with plans for a 5th lab to be opened in 2025 to support service expansion.

We are offering this as a progressive post, to allow you to grow into a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse by completing competencies over a period of approximately 6 - 12 months, depending on hours, and existing experience/skills.

Working for our organisation

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.

Specific to this role we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service.  UHS employees can access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
