Job overview

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse/Allied Health Professional to join the R & D team working 37.5 hours/week supporting the delivery of Clinical Research primarily within the speciality of Oncology.  This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse/AHP to develop their career in non-commercial and commercial clinical research.

The Research and Development Department is dedicated to providing high quality, patient centred, clinical research throughout the Trust.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic registered Nurse/AHP ideally with clinical experience in oncology or research, who is organised, self-motivated and aspires to further their knowledge and career in Clinical Research. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment and delivery, to closure of a study. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage a research portfolio and implement and recruit to studies across both the Basingstoke and Winchester sites.

Main duties of the job

The role of the research nurse/AHP is to assist with the coordination of clinical trials and research studies within this area. As a Research Nurse /Allied Health professional, you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research studies, facilitating high standards of nursing care and promoting the continuity of care of patients involved in these trials alongside a Band 6 Research Nurse/Allied Health professional. 

This will involve recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients across all HHFT sites  and the collection and documentation of accurate research data, all of which must be managed in accordance with ICH, GCP and the EU Directive on Clinical Trials.

You will work collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your caseload of clinical trial patients. You will promote continuous improvement in the care of research participants and the quality of research data.

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1) / AHP
  • Good standard of general education
Desirable criteria
  • Good Clinical Practice training/knowledge

Experience

  • Previous experience working within an acute clinical speciality

  • Experience of managing a caseload of patients
