Antimicrobial resistance remains a significant public health challenge and the antimicrobial stewardship agenda is one of the top priorities for the NHS. We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic & experienced clinical pharmacist to join our established Pharmacy Infection Team.
The successful candidate will work within a specialist Pharmacy team, alongside Microbiology & Infectious Diseases Consultants and the wider Trust clinical teams, to lead the Trust's antimicrobial stewardship program, including OPAT. Regional/national collaboration and clinical research is encouraged. HHFT has a strong digital program that supports antimicrobial stewardship – including EPMA and electronic patient records.
You will need:
- Clinical knowledge & understanding of antimicrobial stewardship
- Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills, to be used in support of multi-disciplinary teams

Main duties of the job
- Lead Pharmacist in antimicrobial stewardship - working as/towards non-medical prescribing in the speciality. Role includes teaching, training, audit and research.
- Day to day clinical management of patients, within speciality, with regard to medicines optimisation.
- To lead, develop, deliver and evaluate the clinical pharmacy service for antimicrobial stewardship.
- To provide regular drug usage/expenditure reports, including opportunities for cost improvement (CIP) for the clinical speciality.
- To ensure the effective management and development of staff, including line management, mentoring and supervision.

Antimicrobial Stewardship at HHFT is supported by consultants in microbiology and infectious diseases, infection control nurses, antimicrobial pharmacists and a pharmacy technician who work closely together to ensure appropriate antimicrobial use and to prevent resistance and healthcare-associated infections. You will also work closely with the friendly & supportive clinical pharmacy team.
