Job overview
The Estates Department is looking for a Maintenance Assistant with a background preferably gained in a mechanical maintenance, building services or healthcare environment to join the Maintenance Team.
This will be a development role enabling the successful applicant to undertake suitable training and giving them the opportunity to progress further within the Estates department.
Main duties of the job
Carrying out planned and reactive building works to ensure a welcoming environment for staff and visitors is a key element of this post. This will include the repairing, maintenance and improvement of the building and its facilities.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake maintenance within the hospital environment completing planned maintenance dockets and defect dockets. The successful applicant may also be required to assist with other building related tasks as well as mechanical and electrical building services in plant rooms and ward areas.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will require good communication skills. An empathetic approach to staff and patients, be adaptable, willing to learn new skills and be able to work independently as well as part of the team. The applicant must have the physical ability and agility to carry out manual handling.
A current valid full driving license would be an advantage.
