Job overview

The Estates Department is looking for a Mechanical Technician with a background preferably gained in a maintenance, building services or healthcare environment to join the Maintenance Team.

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be required to carry out planned and reactive mechanical works inclusive of repair, maintenance and improvement to the building and hospital facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

The successful applicant may also be required to assist with other building related tasks as well as mechanical and electrical building services in plant rooms and ward areas.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Where required additional training will be given to the successful applicant to enable them to fully meet the person specification and consideration will be given to further training to enable career progression.

The vacancy will be based at the Basingstoke Hospital site and the successful applicant will require good communication skills to work across the site, however may also be expected to work on any of the Trust sites.

The successful applicant will require good communication skills. An empathetic approach to staff and patients, be adaptable, willing to learn new skills and be able to work independently as well as part of the team. The applicant must have the physical ability and agility to carry out manual handling.

A current valid full driving license is required for this role to undertake call outs. .

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A minimum of one years’ post qualification experience working in a mechanical maintenance environment
  • Good awareness of health & safety legislation and experience of working to safe systems of work
Desirable criteria
  • Experience Working in an Acute Hospital or Healthcare Establishment
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of mechanical maintenance work
