Here at Hampshire Hospitals, patient care is at the heart of all we do. We have new exciting opportunities to join our Domestic Service Workforce at Basingstoke Hospital.

The post holder will be  responsible for working as part of a team to ensure high standards of cleanliness are achieved across HHFT. To supervise and control the Domestic stores, involves order processing, receipting of goods, computerised data entry of all stock movements, accounting for and issuing stock.  You must have a flexible approach to work.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure the Domestic Stores are always secure, and that stock is appropriately controlled and accounted for, via Electronic management system.
  • Report any faults (maintenance or other) using appropriate systems and recognise potential hazards or work difficulties and check they are addressed.
  • Use approved safe methods and techniques when lifting and handling.
  • General record keeping, invoices / delivery/EDC GOLD etc.
  • Be responsible for topping up cleaning materials for Domestic use.
  • Responsible for ensuring supply levels are maintained in line with workflow.
  • To be responsible for keys issued to you and ensure their return for safekeeping.
  • Receive incoming Domestic consumables from Stores.  Check and sign delivery notes for quality and quantity, and reconcile any incorrect delivers escalating to line manager.
  • Ensure a satisfactory system of stock rotation is in place.
  • Ensure goods are correctly stored, meeting COSHH requirements.
  • Inform the deputy operational manager is aware of any shortfalls in goods ordered
  • Assist with regular stock take to enable discrepancies in stock levels.
  • Monitor stock controls in accordance with SOP, e.g. compiling regular stock level/issue reports for service manager.
  • Be the accountable person for stock out to Shift lead teams and make up delivers for teams to collect.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level, including Maths and English Language at grade C or above, or equivalent (Level 1 standard Literacy and Numeracy Test on entry)
  • Quality Control Certificate
  • Intermediate IT knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Word and Excel and use of databases
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ in administration or equivalant

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in an environment delivering customer service
  • COSHH
  • Relevant comprehensive experience of storekeeping role in large organisation
  • Effective written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Awareness and knowledge of Health / Safety and risk awareness
  • Knowledge of stock control and rotation
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of cleaning/managing stock in a healthcare setting
  • Commercial awareness in customer focused environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Accuracy in data entry and typing and attention to detail
  • Able to work on own initiative and to work unsupervised
