MEDICAL DIRECTORATE – WREXHAM MAELOR HOSPITAL

 

Is looking for middle/registrar grade doctors to support Gastroenterology Team. The Gastroenterology inpatients are predominantly on one Ward which has 27 beds.

Main duties of the job

The Middle Grade will see referrals from other specialties following discussion with Consultant and take over care as when needed. There is shared care of complex inflammatory bowel disease patients with the surgeons.

 

There a dedicated weekly Endoscopy Training Session timetabled for the successful applicant. Close supervision with weekly discussions of clinic patients and there is weekly teaching for the ward team. Upper GI MDT takes place every Thursday morning and Lower GI MDT every Thursday lunchtime. Monthly IBD MDT and weekly Liver and Nutrition MDTs.

 

There will be opportunities for audit and quality improvement projects within the role. The initial contract is for a 12 month period which can be reviewed and extended if wished. For further information please see enclosed job description and person specification.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Post will mainly be ward based with 1 session for administration.

Ward duties include 

  Admitting Acute Medical Patient

Outpatient Gastroenterology Clinic depending on experience                Provide Gastroenterology opinion to other specialties under supervision of Gastroenterology Consultant. 

Ascitic drain ambulatory clinic Endoscopy Training List

 Teaching   -   Undergraduate

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MRCP Part 1
  • MRCP Part 2 written PACES
  • Valid ALS
Desirable criteria
  • Higher Qualifications

Experience

Essential criteria
  • General Medicine at SHO level for minimum 2 years, signed off to CMT level.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of middle grade rota at DGH level

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • appropriate Experience
